Prof. Imaralu John


South-West Coordinator

MBChB, MPH, MD, FMCOG, FWACS, FMAS DMAS, F.ART 

John Imaralu is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, at Babcock University and a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun state Nigeria.

As a pioneer head of the department, he coordinated the development of framework, regulations and guidelines for the professional and academic training of resident doctors and medical students, activities which have contributed to the institution’s success in obtaining full accreditation status from all relevant regulatory bodies. 

His work entails the provision of leadership for the department, mentorship, and academic and clinical (especially surgical preceptorship) to trainee specialists in gynecologic surgery and minimal access surgery where he specializes. His trainees have continually performed brilliantly in postgraduate examinations.  He was at the forefront of establishing the Endoscopic Surgical Unit of the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, in 2016, where advanced-level operative and diagnostic procedures are now frequently done. 

He is an examiner in the West African College of Surgeons and a member of AGES, AFRH, SOGON, ASRM and many professional bodies. 

He has authored over fifty scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and books, many of which have gynecologic surgery as the theme. He is a journal editor and a reviewer for several high-impact journals.   

John loves family life and is adept at playing table tennis.

Dr. Haruna Idris

Dr. Haruna Idris, MBBS, FMCOG, FWACS, Cert. MAS, is a consultant Obstetrician and gynecologist with a special interest in gynecological endoscopy/Reproductive endocrinology. He is the North-Central coordinator for AGES. He was Head of the Department of O&G, FMC, Bida, from April 2020 to March 2022. He has several papers published in peer-reviewed Journals locally and internationally with contributions to a textbook. He is happily married and blessed with children.

​Prof. Ibrahim Sanusi

Prof. Ibrahim Sanusi is presently a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist/Minimal Access Surgeon and Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Clinical Services), University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. He is also a Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Sub-Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. He graduated from the University of Jos Nigeria, with MB; BS degree, in 2001. He obtained Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria Faculty of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FMCOG) in 2011, Fellowship of the International College of Surgeons (FICS) in 2016, Masters in Health Planning and Management (MHPM) from University of Maiduguri in 2016, Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery, and Fellowship certificate in Assisted Reproductive Techniques from World Laparoscopy Hospital, New Delhi India in 2016, certificates in Hospital Administration from Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) Beijing, China in 2017, and in Epidemiology and Project Management from University of Washington, USA in 2019. During the period, he held many responsibilities, received many awards, attended and presented many papers at scientific conferences both locally and internationally. He has served as a public health researcher for Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health and other health organizations, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and some development partners. He is an external examiner and board member, faculty of Obstetric and Gynaecology, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, since 2020. He has published over 50 original research articles, contributed chapters in 5 textbooks and presented 15 papers in local and international scientific conferences. His papers are well cited, with 1,199 citations, an h-index of 16 and an i10-index of 19, as of September 2022. He is married to a Paediatrician, and blessed with five children, including a set of twins.
