The African Gerontological Society (AGES) is a multi-disciplinary non-governmental organisation (NGO) concerned with ageing in the African Region. It was founded in 1989 during the International Association of Gerontology (IAG) World Congress of Gerontology in Mexico, and co-sponsored by the United Nations.
The Nigeria Chapter, AGES Nigeria was established by Dr. Charles Afolabi JP (Country Representative) in 1997, formerly hosted the Secretariat of AGES International. The Board of Trustees is chaired by Prof. Felicia Adetowun Ogunsheye who is also a Past President of the Executive Council of AGES Nigeria.
